BORDEAUX WINE TOUR
Welcome to arguably the finest wine producing region on the planet where you will visit some of the worlds finest wineries to meet the wine makers, taste superb wines, stay in magnificent chateaux, and of course enjoy wonderful French cuisine.
Our private wine tasting tour is centred on the two primary wine producing areas within the region that are generally referred to as the left bank and right bank, this division being geographically defined by the Gironde estuary.
A JOURNEY THROUGH BORDEAUX
Bordeaux is steeped in a two-thousand-years of viticultural history that stretches back to Roman occupation of the territory.
With the creation of the “modern” Medoc in the 16th Century, the left bank became Cabernet Sauvignon’s homeland and is host to the four most famous communes of the Medoc - Margaux, St-Julien, Pauillac and St Estèphe.
The right banks’ leading appellations are equally as impressive with St Émilion and Pomerol.
THE WINES
The wines vary in style and structure with Cabernet Sauvignon as the dominant varietal in the left bank appellations. These grapes produce wines with greater tannins and age-worthy acidity.
The wines from the right bank appellations including St Émilion, Pomerol and the Côtes de Bourg are predominantly Merlot based, resulting in wines with richer fruit characteristics.
In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, there are other varietals in much lesser quantities used in the blending of the wines. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot being the most frequently included.
THE WINERIES
We spend three or five wonderful days in the region visiting four world renowned wineries, three on the left bank, and one on the right bank in St Émilion.
The Left bank trio are, Château Pichon Baron, Second Grand Cru Classé in St Julien, Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, Premier Cru Classé in Pauillac, and Cos d’Estournel, Grand Cru Classé in St Estèphe.
In our opinion, there is no finer right bank winery than Château Cheval Blanc. Dating from the early 1800’s this legendary St Émilion Château is one of only four awarded the distinction of Premier Grand Cru Classé “A”.

Wine touring in Bordeaux is typically over three or five nights although we can extend your wine tour to include other wineries and activities within the itinerary.
We can also combine this with other VXO winery tours to create a wonderful two or three centre European winery experience by private jet.
Touring is not just about the wine, we include all travel in the region, accommodation, dining, relaxation, and those must see and Do’s that your party desires.
We have considerable tour management experience and expertise, with a dedicated team who understand the dynamic of multi-location touring, and we personally host your group.
We recognise that things can change for any number of reasons when on tour, so we provide a 24/7 concierge service to assist and help you and your party in any way, always acting with discretion and confidentiality.
TRAVEL
Ground transport is in chauffeured executive VIP vehicles accommodating groups up to eight people.
We can arrange to bring you into Bordeaux by private jet from your departure city, if that works best for your party, or should you be travelling in your own aircraft, there are a number of airports available for your routing.
There is improved European scheduling for flights to Bordeaux, and there are direct long-haul flights into Paris and Nice with onward domestic routings into Bordeaux.
We can accommodate parties from private yachts in the western Mediterranean with Heli transfers as required.
ACCOMMODATION & DINING
Accommodation is in beautiful châteaux, superb hotels or exclusive use properties.
Dining in the South West of France is never boring, with regional cuisine available in a selection of excellent restaurants.
There are also over fifty Michelin restaurants in the region, many that we regard first class.
