UK FINE DINING MICHELIN TOUR BY PRIVATE JET & HELICOPTER

Taking in London, Edinburgh, and the Scottish Highlands and Islands, we blend the vibrancy of the UK’s two major capital cities and the enchanted Isle of Skye, with superb Michelin and fine dining, breath-taking beauty, and luxury accommodation, what's not to like?

Tailored touring with VXO is all about crafting a tour that includes all that you and your party want to see and do. However, to get that kick started, we have scoped this great tour below that will work well over five or six days.

MICHELIN RESTAURANTS IN LONDON

Arguably the restaurant capital of the world, London has hosted and in many cases trained the very finest chefs. Ramsay, MPW, Galetti, Roux, Ducasse, Koffmann, Pic, Blumenthal, Darroze, to name only a few. It is your choice whether we spend one or two nights in London before heading north and over the border to Scotland.

There are so many fine hotels in the city to choose from. Classics like the Ritz and Connaught, or the Berkeley and Lanesborough are hard to ignore, although we’ll take your guidance on what fits best for you and your guests.

HÉLÈNE DARROZE AT THE CONNAUGHT (3*) - MAYFAIR - LONDON

This is a celebration of impeccable sourcing and wonderful skills from the kitchen brigade. The menu includes Scottish langoustines and scallops, west country landed turbot, Devon duck, tomatoes from south west France, Japanese Joshu Wagyu, and Vescovato peaches from Piedmont.

The Connaught is one of the worlds finest hotels and the quality of the restaurant design and furnishings reflect the hotels pedigree. They have created a calming and relaxed environment to enjoy this superb three-star experience.

The limestone wine cellars hold over 30,000 bottles. There are very few wines and prime vintages that the sommelier team cannot provide. There’s also a sommeliers table in the cellars that we can dine at with smaller parties, and with a menu specifically matched to an exceptional wine tasting.

DINNER BY HESTON BLUMENTHAL (2*) - MANDARIN ORIENTAL HOTEL - KNIGHTSBRIDGE - LONDON

The a la carte and tasting menus are fabulous, roast cod and cockle ketchup, roast halibut and green sauce, duck breast with smoked fennel and apricot, tipsy cake and spit roast pineapple. Sounds very simple, and it is, but so full of flavour and the cooking is faultless.

Heston’s ability to create dishes and mesmerise diners with their presentation, is legendary - Meat Fruit is a mandarin and chicken liver parfait starter (picture alongside)

We love “Dinner” as it is a throwback to a traditional British meal with recipe origins stretching back 500 years in some instances.

The wine list features just under 1000 bins including many top producers with an impressive depth of vintages. Excellent pairing options with both the a la carte and tasting menus.

MICHELIN RESTAURANTS IN SCOTLAND

We pick up the Jet outside London and head north to Scotland. The majestic Gleneagles awaits you to enjoy a Michelin two-star experience in this exquisite five-star hotel. We take in heli travel to Skye over the West Highlands, enjoy wonderful island hospitality, and travel back to Edinburgh by Glenfinnan and Glencoe.

Three of our favourite Scottish hotels are Gleneagles, Kinloch Lodge on Skye, and The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh.

ANDREW FAIRLIE (2*) - GLENEAGLES HOTEL - AUCHTERARDER

Scotland’s only 2* restaurant, and it is fantastic. The country’s natural larder is exceptional and the menu’s reveal the breadth of that in every course. Vegetarian, a la carte and degustation menus are available. Foie gras ballontine, mushroom and truffle ravioli, spiced king scallop, loin of venison, crusted lamb three ways, turbot with lobster bisque, all brilliantly cooked and beautifully presented.

Impressive list of Krug vintage champagnes. The wine menu leans favourably towards the great French producers in Burgundy and Bordeaux, with some excellent Italian listings too.

Service is unhurried and relaxed, staff are discreet, but they miss nothing.

LOCH BAY (1*) - WATERNISH PENINSULA - ISLE OF SKYE

Husband and wife Michael and Laurence Smith know a thing or two about how to prepare and serve arguably the finest shellfish in the world. A Fruit de Mer menu of Island scallops, langoustines, mussels, hake, lobster, local herbs, oysters and few West Highland cheeses, make this a glorious experience.

Situated beside the pier in Stein, and seating only eighteen diners, it is a relaxed, intimate experience. Refreshingly, this isn’t about Jacquard linens and Zalto glassware, this is about the finest food, brilliantly cooked and served in a traditional un sculptured and very homely restaurant, we love it!

The wine list is simple but the selections are well thought through, and they work perfectly with the menu.

KITCHIN 1* - PORT OF LEITH - EDINBURGH

“From nature to plate” is Tom Kitchin’s mantra, and you see that reflected in his sourcing of ingredients, and the quality and flavour in all that he and his team prepare.

Highland Wagyu tartare, roasted veal sweetbreads, onion velouté, razor clams, baked Orkney scallops, roasted Scrabster monkfish in pancetta with crispy oyster, and Newhaven lobster.

Nicely designed and comfortable restaurant and with a laid back and relaxed feel. Wine list is interesting with a good balance of old and new world vintages.

Tom Kitchin trained and worked with some of the world’s greatest chefs, Pierre Koffmann in London, Guy Savoy in Paris and Alain Ducasse in Monaco.
