With blind shots from the tees and approach shots over massive dunes, drops in fairway height and some tricky reads on the greens, you will be in better shape to have someone help with the lines and club selection. Make no mistake, this is a fantastic experience with staggering natural beauty. The back nine is like playing a different course from the front nine. The dunes are huge and the routing between them is fabulous with some big carries to plateau greens, but this is immense fun. It is a unique golfing experience in one of the most awe-inspiring locations. The course is perched 300 feet up and routed on a headland that stretches into the Atlantic Ocean for two miles. Strictly speaking it is a hilltop course, not a Links and it is exposed to all that nature can throw at you. When you are there, you do not really care if it is a Links or not as it is a unique golfing experience. There are nine holes that border the cliff tops, and they are quite simply breathtaking. The clubhouse facilities and service are first-class. The terrace either pre or post golf is a great place to relax and enjoy superb food. Favourable client comments were the on-course drinks service with beers and cigars too, and a Deliveroo style food service from the clubhouse kitchens delivered on course. One survey back in 2010 prior to the PGA Championship, counted 967, with 102 of them on the 8th hole! Clearly being straight off the tee is a big help! It doesn’t play as long off the tees as Majlis or the Abu Dhabi duo, although the changes in elevation on the front nine are a great feature and unusual for many UAE courses. The best holes in our opinion are those returning to the clubhouse, the 8th, 9th, 16th, 17th and 18th. They are designed around several lakes, and the greens really are excellent. Course maintenance is top drawer, and the clubhouse and practice facilities are equally superb. Stretching to 7,301 yds, it is a challenging par 72 track. Majlis’s pedigree is well established as one of the finest courses in the Emirates, as it hosts the Dubai Desert Classic every year. It is easy to forget that only thirty years ago this was just a characterless desert, and now it is a great layout with meandering fairways, seven fresh and saltwater lakes and large fast greens. It is the region's first eco-conscious designed oceanfront golf course providing great views out over the Gulf. It sits on Saadiyat Island which is Abu Dhabi’s first playground targeted at the international market and in our opinion it is a great destination for golf. Three saltwater lakes and the restored beach and sand dunes provide a links like experience and with more than 60 bunkers, it is a challenging Par 72. The clubhouse is excellent, and the changing facilities are first-class. Designed by Greg Norman and it has received the acclaim of many pro’s as an exceptional addition to the regions many courses. It has a classic links feel with natural dunes and excellent bunkering, water comes into play on the 4th and 5th holes.
